Adjusting to college academics can be a challenge, but if you take advantage of our numerous academic services and support systems, we're confident you'll come out on top.
Finding Your Footing
A course to help you navigate the specifics of RIC, and college in general.
In this starter, 1-credit course (RIC 100), you'll forge friendships with fellow students and make connections with faculty, staff, and upperclass students who will guide and advocate for you – all while learning RIC and getting prepared for college academics. During this 50-minute weekly course you'll learn college expectations, financial literacy, cultural competency, campus resources, learning styles, and more. At RIC, we prepare you for success from the start.
Ongoing Advising
You won't navigate your college experience alone – we're on this journey together.
Academic Advising at RIC means ongoing academic and holistic support throughout your time here. Advising helps you navigate course selection and major program requirements, keeps you on track to graduate, connects you to RIC resources, supports exploring career pathways, and beyond. All students will be assigned an academic advisor that they are required to meet with at least once a semester, and depending on major and class level, students will work with a professional advisor or faculty advisor in their major. No matter your program, you will have a committed academic advisor to support your individual degree progression, goal setting, and your entire academic journey at Ó²ººÊÓƵ!
